Wood Furniture: Solid Wood vs. Veneer vs. MDF
Published on Jul 03, 2026
What do these labels really mean, and which is right for your budget?
- Solid Wood: Natural timber. Highly durable, repairable, but susceptible to humidity changes.
- Wood Veneer: A thin slice of real wood glued to a core board. Stable, looks genuine, but harder to repair deep scratches.
- MDF (Medium-Density Fiberboard): Engineered wood made of wood fibers. Affordable, very flat, but easily damaged by water.
